Basic Mastering

Is your mix too boomy or too bright? Does it sound great on your stereo but terrible in headphones? That's primarily what basic mastering addresses. A finished product should sound good regardless of the system you listen to. For basic mastering we equalize your track so that the key frequencies in your mix are hitting the same levels. In general we look toward the standard frequency analysis of what we consider to be 'well mastered' tracks - think Pink Floyd's Darkside of the Moon or Radiohead's Hail to the Thief - and then customize that analysis to fit your style of music and the limitations of your mix. On top of that we will dynamically process your tracks to correct for frequency and dynamic peaks & valleys and bring the overall decibel level to major label issue CD levels [or lower if you prefer to keep more of the natural dynamics]. We can even add some vintage tape saturation effects if you're going for the analog vibe. And because we accept work via FTP or via snail mail, you don't need to be in the New York area to take advantage of our services.
